Sneak Peeks from Brenda Gervais of With Thy Needle!
Three new charts are coming our way in the next few days -- With Thy Needle is turning towards Fall and Halloween!
  • Spirits & Spells -- A small 56 x 80 design, this finishes about 3 x 5 on 40ct (over two), and is shown mounted on top of a little paper box. Full of pretty hand-dyed Autumn colors, it is trimmed with Lady Dot's Vintage Mini Pom Poms -- which will work on the box or a pin cushion finishing treatment. The little owl is darling... if you like the fall flavor but not the witch, leave her off and add your initials instead!
  • Autumn's Bouquet -- This is SO cute! 126 x 81 -- This finishes approx 5 x 7 on 36ct Picture This Plus Legacy Linen. A mixture of hand-dyed cottons, the little squirrel is stitched with Rainbow Gallery's Antique White Wisper. If you don't get ANY of the other threads -- get that Wisper -- it makes him furry! The red tray looks like 'tin' to me, and acorns everywhere make it seem like he's in an Autumn Acorn storm beneath oak trees!!!
  • Hallows Eve at Raven's Hallow -- This finishes approx 6 x 10 on 36ct Beige Linen by Weeks Dye Works. More pretty Autumny cotton hand-dyed flosses, it features a very spindly vine that is attractive to blackbirds. The witch on here doesn't look too mean... her broom is home to her cat and that glorious vine coming from the little black urn.

Just Nan New Fall 2017 Arrivals -- due in the shop later this month!
Nan has several new things... her 3rd Seasonal Mouse House, a darling Owl and Sunflower Biscornu (a home for Mr Nutley owl) and a coordinating Needle Slide to store your needles and threaders.

Haunted Autumn Mouse in a House with Miss Ghostly Pumpkin Mouse from Just Nan
Haunted Autumn Mouse in a House with Miss Ghostly Pumpkin Mouse by Just Nan -- click to see more! The third in Nan's seasonal Mouse Houses, Autumn House is stitched on 32ct Raw Belfast and finishes approx 3 x 3 when tied closed. Miss ghostly Mouse is stitched on Week's 32ct Pumpkin Linen, and she finishes about 2 x 3 -- before you wrap her little body closed! Nan's descriptions read:
Autumn foliage lines the walls of the house, accented with sparkling bronze hex beads. The house is "haunted" by a crew of playful ghosts. The front door features carved pumpkin stacks, 2 striped pumpkin beads and an intricate web with clever spider. On one side of the house 2 ghosts wave from the window above a trio of pumpkins.

On the other side, you will find an entertaining ghost, a running squirrel, a very loud crow and somebody's hat. In the backyard, a helpful ghost gathers apples beneath a laden tree. Inside, orange felt walls surround an autumn rug centered with a harvest moon. Beneath the rug, another little mouse scurries around the base dodging the spiders. The felt walls can hold needles and pins or tiny embellishments.

Miss Ghostly Pumpkin Mouse lives in this house. She is wearing a dress embroidered with ghosts which she thinks is much more stylish than draping a sheet over her head. She has a green glass pumpkin stem hat and holds a black bat purse. Her curly tail is orange wired string. She fits inside the house.

Presented as the leaflet with 12-page stitch and assembly guide, you get the 24 inches of polka dot 'roof' ribbon, orange felt, chipboard house base, hex-shaped beads, a pair of pumpkin beads, Ghostly's wire tail, Nan's signature Mouse Base Button, Ghostly's tiny green glass hat, a black satin bat, and little gingham heart to decorate her interior house walls! Too darn cute, we have the Spring and Summer houses still available, so you can catch up your set, or simply choose your favorites!

Memories by Just Nan -- click to see more! Tiny Owls Biscornu from Just Nan
A companion to several of Nan's other mini biscornu-shaped pin cushions, (Tiny Bunny, Christmas and Feathers & Flowers) this little guy measures a mere 2 inches in size! It features four owls on one side with big googly eyes, and four owls in flight the other side.

Stitched on 32ct Country Vintage Mocha Linen, the chart includes 2 colors and shapes of beads, orange crystals for the centers and textured black and orange ribbon to dress up your seams. Perch Mr Nutley Owl on top! See him? He is offered separately as a small ornament chart!!! Super quick to stitch, Nan has so much cute detail on all of her smalls... Tiny Owl is no exception! Presented as the small chart with embellishments.

Pumpkin Party Mini Slide by Just Nan -- click to see more!
Pumpkin Party Mini Slide from Just Nan
Nan is providing Miss Ghostly Pumpkin Mouse extra Halloween storage with a mini version of our Needle Slide. The same magnet is inside and the lid slides open and snaps closed.

Luscious Cotton Velveteens Handyed from Lady Dot
Luscious Cotton Velveteens
Handyed
by Lady Dot Creates
This is a gorgeous selection of hand-dyed cotton velveteen that is wonderful to use for pin cushion and pillow finishing. Offered in 10 x 18 cuts (each is torn instead of being cut) so you have the straight grain of the fabric.

Good heavy hand, when you use crushed walnut shells or something heavy inside your smalls, you will really like the way this heavier finishing fabric feels. Lightweight calico is simply too thin. 16 yummy colors so far!

Life After Death from Long Dog Samplers - click for more Death By Cross Stitch from Long Dog Samplers - click for more
Death By Cross Stitch and Life After Death from Long Dog Samplers
Here's a pair of pieces by Long Dog Samplers... we've had the 'Death By' one for a while... but 'Life After' is the new companion. Choose a single color you like -- solid or hand-dyed, cotton or silk -- the patterns give you yardage requirements to help you get enough matching thread.

Actually, the charts are quite clear and easy to read, and if you choose an over-dyed thread with a little color variation in it, these will be stunning!

Also choose any fabric YOU want to use... that will determine the finished sizes of these. Lovely motifs all over the place in these, you can go crazy just studying them!!! Huge in finished size, Life After has a stitch count of 372 x 325 -- so 21 x 18 on 36. Death By measures 363 x 447.

  • Stick of Butter -- Talks about times in life that just are better with a stick of butter added!
  • On My Left -- A friendship thing... talks about the friend on the left... and there is even a little dog there on the left!
  • Taste in Friends -- You can be thankful for good wine and you r exquisite taste in friends!

Charming designs, all are presented in chart format and are here NOW.
  • A Thousand Hills -- Celebrating little creatures of God, Paulette wanted to add more color -- besides orange and black -- to an Autumnal scene. Measuring approx 8-1/2 x 11, lots of hand-dyed cottons used, and verse is stitched over one. I love all those sheep and cattle ont he rolling hills!

  • Judge Not -- We really like this one! check out all those little sheepies -- every one of them is different! Finishing approx 12 x 5 on 36ct, Paulette has a little black and brown throughout... but lots of fun details on each little plump fluff of a sheep!

New Summer Arrivals from Shepherd's Bush!
Tina and Terri have sent 4 new designs to celebrate Summer! Kits and leaflets... see what you think!
  • Little Blue House -- Another cute Tin design, here's a Summer Sheep -- can you see that his little body has red and white stripes on it... and he has a little blue butt? He has te weight of the world on his back -- a skinny blue house, and the American Flag... but he's in his garden, so he's GOOD! Complete kit comes with the linen, flosses and the 3-inch tart tin for finishing.
  • There Dwells My Heart -- This is charming! Measuring 6 x 9 on 32ct natural linen, this scene is stitched with hand-dyed silks and cottons -- all the traditional Shepherd's Bushy colors! *Where my home is, there dwells my heart.* Pretty flowers in the border, the cool zig-zaggy flag and that neat zaggy hill on the right... they've stitched the green on the central sheep hill vertically, so you can see how it looks striped! Very cute! Complete kit of linen, threads, chart and mini button embellishments.
  • Land of Liberty -- A 10ct Tula kit... this finishes approx 4 x 3. A super-quick thing to work up... if you have a beginning stitcher -- GET THIS FOR THEM! Small enough for them to finish, cute, neat threads along with an organizer board, cool material, pretty colors... this has a great presentation as a 'real-live' kit... not a dorky-experiment! They will love it and YOU! Complete kit of chart, fabric, flosses, needles and embellishment!
  • Liberty Notes -- The 4th leaflet design in this series of designs -- finishes approx 3 x 4 on 32ct. Coded for hand-dyed flosses, there is a button pack available for embellishment!

House Rule from Little House Needleworks -- click to see lots more House Rule
from Little House Needleworks
This is a cute Little House Needleworks chart that came in while we were gone on our French Cruise with Jeannette Douglas! I never had a chance to write my web words for it! I think it needs to hang in your stitching room or area... but it'd be super-fun made into a windowsill pillow, a lumbar support pillow, or even a long little wedgie stand-up!

Basically, you appreciate this advice until you're ripping out, and then it's just useless blather! (It's not like you DIDN'T count... it just didn't come out right, and you don't need the reminder!) Well, cute houses, cute sentiment... this finishes approx 2 x 12 on 32ct -- coded for DMC or hand-dyeds.

Coverlet Berry Scissor Tray - click for more
Coverlet Berry Scissor Tray from The Scarlett House
Scarlett House has released a charming 3-1/2 x 5-ish design that can be finished into a 'tray-setting' or a pin cushion. Stitched over 2 on 40ct is is worked with just 5 shades of hand-dyeds -- Cast Iron Skillet, Caper, Oscar, Sage and Country Redwood. The tray you see in the pic was used for the model -- the chart includes details for preparing that separately purchased (from Hobby Lobby) little tray... but recommends a pin cushion treatment as well.

Tanya has included the templates and instructions for the fun little berries shown on here... they are made from Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed wools of Louisana Hot Sauce and Grasshopper. NOTE: DOVO has discontinued ALL of their matte black scissors like the ones shown in the pic. If you are wanting that gorgeous black finish on a pair of scissors -- do not wait -- DOVO is already sold out and is not shipping these any longer! (I think we have a few left...)

WOW... the last of the 12 Berries series, a darling mermaid and some new stitching smalls!

  • Mermaid Berry -- You'll want this darling berry and medallion as companion pieces to your By the Sea sewing set! The berry's mermaid is surrounded by her fishy friends, and is relaxing on the beach in the medallion design -- a perfect topper for an ort jar! Presented in chart format WITH the two cuts of silk gauze for the round piece and the berry, everything is worked with various hand-dyed flosses. Such a pretty design!
  • Mary Havens' Smalls -- It's always fun to spot motifs in larger samplers that can be used for lovely little smalls -- this set is comprised of a silk gauze pin cushion, needle book, pin keep, scissor fob and berry! Stitched on 40ct white linen... everything is over two threads... but LOOK at that velvet pillow cushion, that is the one on the gauze. Everything is presented in chart format, fabrics available separately -- in case you need to adjust your counts!

Tulip House from Hands-On Design Rose Cottage from Hands-On Design Chalk for the Home Series from Hands-On Design
Hands On Design is continuing her charming 4-Seasons set of Chalk for the Home chalk-art houses -- each one a gorgeous burst of color and white stitched on gunmetal shaded fabric. Rose Cottage -- the Summer design, is the second, joining Tulip House -- the Spring edition. Finishing approx 8 x 10 on 32ct, you get the main house, and a separate chart for the season, so you can sub the whole bottom part that says HOME for the season if you want.

Pretty pinks and whites, this is coded for hand-dyed flosses. There are quite a few fabric options in this dark gray family now -- you can get Aida in 14 and 18ct, as well as solid and hand-dyed linens in all sorts of counts. Since it is dark, it is harder to see to stitch on this color. Don't get hung up on fabric count... just get that awesome gunmetal color. Autumn and Winter's house charts will be following in the next few months!

TAG by Sara Guermani - click for more
TAG from Sara Guermani
Not a very exciting name for this set of designs -- BUT they ARE cool! This is a set of charts that says 'I love Stitching, Crocheting, Quilting, and/or Knitting. One chart for each thing. Measuring approx 70 x 140 in size -- 4 x 9-ish on 32ct... they are coded for DMC floss. Each has the wording, a lady doing her craft, and then a window scene.

I am not sure what the window scene has to do with what you are doing (other than the fact that you are taking a break and looking out the window!) but those scenes are charming... and you can interchange them, leave them totally off, or stitch THOSE and forget the other half! Kind of odd... and a bit on the pricey side...but hey, you'll figure out something!

from Reflets de Soie
A lovely reproduction of an old sampler, this has been charted by Reflets de Soie. Measuring 424 x 348 in size... it'll be 23-1/2 x 19 on 36ct! Huge! Charted for 41 different shades of silks or DMC, the original is pictured on the front cover of the leaflet and the backside of the original is shown on the inside of that front cover!

Glorious, brilliant colors, the houses are charming, the floral borders are stunning, the birds are elegant... and then you get a COW! I think this is celebrates the quiet, country life and blessings of nature. I especially love those enchanting little cottages down in the lower right corner... wouldn't they make awesome solidly-stitched pin cushions?

THE SECRET PIN CUSHION from MTV Designs - click for more Dancing Dragonflies Sewing Set from MTV Designs - click for more Elegance in Bloom Sewing Box from MTV Designs - click for more
MTV is gifted Italian designer with neat stuff!
  • The Secret Pincushion Maria Teresa Vitali has some new designs -- we brought home three different sewing set designs -- all kitted up with her special wooden items and hand-made pins. The Secret Pincushion is especially cute, because it uses a Lone Elm Lane Shaker Pin Cushion Base that you make a cover for, and turn it into a little box! Presented as a chart WITH a handpainted majolica Italian bead sewing pin, you stitch this design on 32ct linen using only 4 colors of Weeks flosses. Mount it on a puffed board, add some rik rak... and Presto... you have a miniature covered box! A real cute idea...
  • Dancing Dragonflies Sewing Set This set makes a sewing case with interior pocket to hold scissors and a special hand-painted wooden thread board, a pin cushion biscornu, and scissor fob. Everything is stitched on Weeks 32ct Gold Linen in DMCs or silks. The main case measures about 4-1/2 x 5 when closed... cushion is smaller at 3 inches and fob at 2. Along with the chart, we included the special painted wooden thread board, the matching magnetic needle minder, the sparkling pins you see poking out from the cushion, and the little scissors! Linen and threads are available separately -- you probably have them in your stash. A little pricey -- it does come all the way from Italy.. and $88 IS cheaper than an airline ticket... so it's not really that bad! And it comes with all of those extra goodies!
  • Elegance in Bloom Sewing Box This is a 4 x 6 x 1-1/2 inch cardboard box that you cover and construct! Stitched on Weeks 32ct Linen with silks or DMC, all your tiny box pieces are included in with the chart, along with MTV's cute little hand-painted needleminder. What I LOVE is the pin roll! It consists of two decorated wooden rounds pierced with heart openings... and there is a matching threadkeep, too! They are the ends of a rolled piece of stitching. THEN, see the gorgeous porcelain pins poking from the ends? Lots of Rhodes stitches in here... you get the chart, boards, three decorated wooden pieces, the scissors and the gorgeous Capodimonte porcelain pins!!!!!

Alphabetique & Little French Pin Keep from JBW

  • Alphabetique is presented as a small chart, it is stitched in one color of hand-dyed (Cherry Wine in this one) and finishes approx 5 x 9 on 32ct Platinum Belfast Linen. Lots of bitty French-flavored motifs in here, the letters are all swirly and pretty, everything is charming! Think about stitching some bits separately for small cushions... you could turn this into a whole set of small cushions! Judy suggests antique button embellishments here and there... none come with the chart... but find some old white ones to dot your needlework!
  • Little French Pin Keep -- This is companion to Judy's Oh La La Eiffel Tower Scissor Case from last year. (That is now offered in chart format, #333, so you can still get the design!) Presented as a kit, you get the chart, pink finishing fabric for front and back. the rik rak, heart buttons and the cut of 32ct Baby Pink Linen to stitch on. All you'll need is a bit of DMC 601, 602 and 605 from your stash! A sweet little thing, the pins featured in the pic are a fun set by JABCO, and are available separately!

Scarlet House has featured this set on her new American Homestead Sewing Set chart, and both are stunning!!! Tanya's designs are charming, and wow, they look great stashed into this awesome little tray! Attach a small cushion to the hornbook, and nestle everything else in the beautiful tray!

6-1/2 Inch Storks by Dovo - click for lots more 6-1/2 Inch Storks
By Dovo of Solingen, Germany, here are gigantic Stork Scissors! Same classic design as our smaller versions, these make quite the statement! They have a nice balance to them, so they actually are good for cutting!

Even though they are large, they are NOT heavy-duty such as a sewing shear. The 'eye' is just one small, precision screw... so treat these with LOVE, just like your smaller embroidery scissors. (That means no paper and no electrical cords!... we hear all those stories!) Super-pretty in a sewing case or neat needlework shadow box display as well.

from Kathy Barrick
Kathy Barrick has a few new releases... I loved these tiny rabbit cushions when I saw them, and of course, that harbor scene is delightful!
  • Bowlful of Bunnies -- Frame them, or cushion them, these finish around 2 x 2 -- depending on fabric counts. Regular DMC flosses, too!
  • Riley Harbor -- The houses are neat, but Iove what's going on in the water! The lobster, crabs, octopus, whale and even the SHARK! Lots of balance, lots of geometric shapes and movement in this... on 32ct, it's 11-1/2 x 8!

Stars & Stripes - Lucy Moore 1865 from Needlework Press - click for more Stars & Stripes - Lucy Moore - 1865
from Needlework Press
Oh, wow... this is an awesome sampler that has survived from 1865. Re-charted by Needlework Press, there is LOTS of history in here about the stitcher, her life and family, and the times she lived in. It finishes approx 25 inches wide by 8 inches high on Week's 30ct Straw Linen. It features alphabets of Algerian Eyelets, one-over-one and Four-Sided stitches.

All the names you see are real ones... but, for heavens sake... DON'T FEEL BAD CHANGING THEM TO YOUR OWN FAMILY NAMES! It's great to feature other people on your walls... very noble and historic... but nobody in your family knew them... and it's OK to make it your own!!! So... think about adding *Family Established* and names and dates or something like that. The sampler is neat.. cool shape, awesome story behind it... presented as a leaflet with great pic of the finished piece!

Spring Time from Needlework Press - click for more
Spring Time
from Needlework Press
The fifth little clock design in NP's Time to Stitch Series! We have the 6-inch plastic fake alarm clock frames for these... Spring joins Christmas, Halloween, Sampler and Stitch Time designs!

Each finishes approx 3 x 3... so if you don't want a faux clock, make them into little pin cushions! We even have clock hands to attach if you want!

Arranging Sewing from Ink Circles - click to see more Arranging It!
from Ink Circles
Ink Circles is getting organized with everything under the sun. Kind of a fun series of designs, each of these is offered in it's separate chart. They all measure the same size -- approx 6 x 4 on 30-ish count, and are coded for Sampler Threads or DMC flosses.

Tools, Fishing Lures, Orchestra, Sewing, Birdhouses, Vegetables... each one appeals to its particular hobby... These are a cute something to stitch for someone... unless their sewing room or tackle box is a mess!

Roses Melody Sewing Casket from Mani di Donna - click for more Mini Sunflower Pin Cushion
from Mani di Donna
Mani Di Donna had the cutest bitty design at Market... a tiny sunflower cushion with matching needlecase. Just a simple chart, it comes with the set of three handmade clay sunflower pins and the three metal thread rings you see on there. (Rings actually go inside the thread case... we put them on the cushion instead, because we didn't think we'd do both pieces!)

You'll need scraps of linen, and bits of three Weeks flosses... SUPER tiny and quick!
Simona has some other cool new things... on our inside pages!

Kesiah Campbell 1796 Sampler from Needlemade Designs - click to see more Kesiah Campbell 1796 Sampler
from Needlemade Designs
A neat sampler... especially when you know what the verse really means!!!! Tucked above the charming farmhouse and yard scene, the Gaelic words translate to *driving the ewes to the hills, where the heather grows... and to the small stream! By Needlemade Designs, you could stitch JUST the bottom part -- leaving off the alphabets and initials -- you CAN change the biblical name Kesiah to your own!

Adjust the border length... but do keep the little sheep stitched with French Knots! The entire green lawn is stitched with Satins - but they are displaced in semi rows, so there is a lovely texture to all that green, which makes this all the more charming! (Can you tell, I'm not personally crazy about the dominant alphabet up there? It's OK to think outside the 'chart' a little!) Entire sampler finishes approx 9 x 11 on 32ct.
Charted for DMC or Gentle Art Sampler Threads -- gorgeous colors of Cast Iron Skillet, Country Redwood, Endive, Garden Gate, Grape Arbor, Red Plum, Moss, Oatmeal, Picnic Basket, and Woodrose.

Land That I Love - click to see more Land That I Love
This is a neat book, and you should buy it! (There it is in a nutshell!) It is a 120-ish page book full of line drawings of the 50 US states, and all sorts of lettering and motifs special to each state. By Indigo Junction's Amy Barickman, it begs for your creativity! Ready to be traced onto fabrics for embroidery... possibilities are endless.

A *Retro* personality to this... how neat would it be to teach a young stitcher basic embroidery with this? If you are traveling this summer... and you are going out-of-state... do pillow cases with motifs of the states you are visiting! If you go camping... it's a perfect momento! If you take a summer vacations somewhere... make kitchen dish towels with embroidery on them to celebrate your trip! If you have a camper -- maybe you have room for a cute stitched pillow in there? This book is your helping hand!

Mill Hill's Fall 2017 Button & bead Kits - click for more
NEW Fall Mill Hill is HERE!
Oh, it's that time of year... SPRING... which means it's also time for Mill Hill's Fall and Halloween line to debut! (You need a little time to work on these before this Fall!)

The New Button & Beaded Kits -- These are the 5 x 5 ones stitched on perforated paper with DMC and beads. We like that paper, but we also use 28ct linen or 14ct Aida as alternatives. Each kit comes with all the threads, beads and a ceramic button for garnish.

ALWAYS Cute: Harvest Corn can stay out for several months, Country Store is another in MH's Village series (there is a whole Christmas City, and another that are shops through all the seasons.) Spooky Scary features dancing skeletons -- very different and cute! Moonlit Treaters features that awesome moon that several of the previous designs have as well, Count Your Blessings sports the most gorgeous Autumn trees in their colorful glory, and finally Old Time Harvest has that cool old truck perusing he pumpkin patch!

Mill Hill Autumn 2017 Small Ornament Kits - click for more
Autumn 2017 Small Ornament Kits from Mill Hill
This year's 3 x3 ornament-sized designs are here too! Sometimes, they companion the larger kits, sometimes not. All are presented with their bit of 14ct perforated paper, all the necessary DMC flosses and beads and usually a Mill Hill Treasure as a garnishment. They work well for magnets, and small ornaments... in the olden days, the kits came with pin backs, so you could wear them. They do make stunning pins, and I am here to tell you that they launder well! (Over the years I have accidentally washed dozens of them! You'd think that paper would disintegrate, but with all your stitching on there, they hold up like iron!)

Happy Camper is just plain DARLING!!! Boo reminds me of the early designs -- very cute. Sally Scarecrow is fun and colorful -- not scary fall. Let Go refers to trees letting go of their leaves... but it might be good advice for someone you know! Be Scary IS a scary Halloween design... and we think that Autumn Gold is KILLER! It is stunning!

Mill Hill EERIE, ELLIS & ESSENCE - click for more EERIE, ELLIS & ESSENCE from Mill Hill
This year's trio of Halloween designs that finish approx 4 inches in size, we have trio of happy ghosts! What makes them kind of fun are the 'textures' on their 'gowns.' (I don't know that ghosts actually 'wear anything at all!')

Anyway, stitched on 14ct perforated paper with DMC and garnished with Mill Hill seed beads, they've simply added some long stitches in here instead of all X's. Very fun! Complete kits of paper, floss, beads, needle... time to get busy!

Out of the Woods: Raccoon from SamSarah Design Studio
Sam Sarah has begun two 3-part designs that are so cute and colorful... just small, simple, not a ton of parts to them, or tons of embellishments, these are MANAGEABLE!

Out of the Woods from SamSarah Design Studio Out of the Woods: Raccoon
from SamSarah Design Studio
Stitched on 32ct Charlotte's Pink by Weeks Dye Works, the raccoon is first chart, cute little owl is second, and that awesome fox is the third chart! Together, they finish about 11 x 5, and they are KILLER!

Colorful, full of personality, they are so creative and different from anything else out there. Super-cute for a nursery! Maybe decide on fabric after you have all three charts?

Blue would be good, apple green... we'll do an auto-ship for the other two charts coming to help you collect the set.

Clay Garden Pin Set from Nikyscreations - click for more Alphabet Garden from Nikyscreations - click for more Nikyscreations has several charming new releases... charts and the ultra-sweet set of miniature clay counting pins!
Alphabet Garden features a flowing alphabet scattered all about the 100 x 131 stitch count design (finishes approx 6 x 8 on 32ct). Charted for regular DMC floss, it's a very pretty piece. You can mange up the fabric of you want, and changing DMC to hand-dyed flosses is a breeze! The chart comes with a delightful hand-painted wooden bunny button that measures about an inch in size -- you can see it beside the W in the sampler.

Clay Garden Pin Set -- These are lovely! PETITE, these are 2-inch long pins topped with a flower, bunny and carrot of polymer clay -- they are only 1/4 an inch in size! So stinkin cute, you can poke these into just about any garden, or floral, or bunny pin cushion, and they'd be a charming surprise inside a sewing case! Soft muted colors... this set I am describing never made it back to The Silver Needle! They found a new home in the pin cushion on my desk!

Another enchanting book I have stumbled across recently, this one features over 70 cross stitch floral motifs mixed into 20 different samplings and projects. Fresh, clean, contemporary, and elegant, the author, Kazuko Aoki, is a popular Japanese embroidery artist who now lives in Sweden and writes embroidery books! Her style is clean, petite, colorful, and realistic.

This is a very pretty book filled with luscious close-up photographs of the stitching, and very clear, inviting charts! Reminds me of the Danish Handcraft Guild look and Gerda Bengstrom, as well! 109 pages of sheer Cross Stitch delight!

A Stitcher's Pin Spool from Milady's Needle - click for more A Stitcher's Pin Spool from Milady's Needle
Milady's Needle has a cute new Stitcher's Spool design... it shows two stitchers on it, big 'ol nasty scissors (in comparison to the tiny little stitchers!) and the words *Sampler Sisters* along with the date. You can spell put anything you want to on there! Presented as a complete kit, it contains the chart (but there are TWO -- one is for 36ct as an option), a cut of 40ct Vintage Homespun Linen by Lakeside, and Gentle Art and Weeks hand-dyed flosses all beautifully tied onto a cardboard thread palette with the stitched artwork on it.

There is coordinating topping fabric to match the flosses and Milady's chunky 2 x 3 inch wooden spool as well. THEN, to dress up your cushion, you'll see a pair of silver-flower pins by Kim's Needle Needfuls -- you get those TOO! Very cute, this is like the Rabbit Run and Garden Visit Spool Keepers and Cushions we were treated to last year (which are back in stock for a limited time!)

  • Spots of Paris is worked on 32ct Ocean Kiss linen with GAST or DMC flosses. Do the 100 x 100 entire design, or make the little scooter and the Metro sign!
  • Ateliers of Paris is a charming shop window scene... I love walking down a narrow street and EVERY shop window is more charming than the last! (wouldn't it be fun to stumble across a mini Silver Needle in some 400 yr old village with stone streets and tiny mosaic door entries, and wooden windows that have 1/2 an inch of paint layers on them?) This design measures 279 x 120 -- good sized. Hand-dyed flosses, a few beads and even some Mill Hill Treasures... the middle shop is a needlework shop... it has a bottle of wine in the window, and a glass FROG Treasure over a gold needle... meaning NO FROGGING... which translates to NO Rip-It Stitching!

Chessie & Me! has several new things. Here are pics of a few, the rest are tucked onto our Chessie & Me pages.
  • Quaker House Token -- This is Linda's small kit for this season, stitched on Zweigart's 36ct Cedar Linen. She has motifs stitched over one and two worked with Gloriana hand-dyed silks of Antique Black, Chocolate, Mocha and Old Gold. A charming little cushion, it finishes just 3 x 4-1/2 inches in size. (blocks are all different sizes, you might lose a tree or two on the sides! The one pictures has 9 holes.) Stitched with Weeks flosses on 32ct Weeks Beige Linen the wool featured in the finishing is Week's Cinnabar Houndstooth pattern. Any of the 4 wool finishes -- herringbone, houndstooth, glen plaid or solid will look good on the finished pieces -- you don't see enough of the pattern to matter... and if you aren't a pink gal... go green! (we can help choose wools for you.) Anyway, main sampler finishes approx 2-1/2 x 7 (a long skinny cushion size), the initial square measures 2 x 2-1/2 and the fib is under 2 inches in size! A charming set, with a neat finishing idea!
  • Home Safe to Me -- A bitty seaside-inspired needlebook and fob set, you are making a Pyn Keep to match as well. Everything is stitched on 36ct (you can choose anything you want), and each piece is stitched on both sides. The Needlebook finishes about 4-1/2 x 9, -- wool pages inside -- it features Linda's trademark design of Satin Stitches mixed in everywhere, Smyrnas as well, and some motifs over one. Her things always have lots of pretty texture because of the stitches mixed in. So... if you don't want the set of smalls, this could simply be a 4-1/2 inch square cushion. The matching scissor fob is under 2 inches -- whale on one side, tall ship on the other. The Pyn Keep measures just 2 x 2 -- mermaid on one side, anchors on the other. Stitched with a combo of Weeks and Gentle Art flosses -- gorgeous colors!

Finishing instructions are included, stuff it with a little weight, and you will have the coolest round stand-up!
  • My Dear Heart -- A pretty reproduction sampler, this finishes approx 8 x 10 on 36ct PTP Ale. Using Weeks hand-dyed flosses, there is a separate pin cushion design using one of the urns... it is worked on RED linen with beige flosses as an alternative look! Who Knew? It wakes you up a little and lets you know that color changing IS possible, and it can look great!
  • It's Spring Fever -- This is the first of the nine-part Loose Feathers that is *For the Birds!* Stitched on 36ct PTP Wren (you can choose any fabric you want -- they are changing colors each month), each measures 91 x 91 in stitch count, they finish approx 5 x 5. Celebrating our fine feathered friends, Spring Fever is stitched with a medley of taupes and soft dusty blues. We are beginning our auto-ship for the charts... let us know if we should count you IN! *AND LINEN EACH TIME OR NOT!*
