Summer Mouse in a House from Just Nan...
We will begin shipping April 27th-ish.
Introducing Miss Pansy Mouse's next door neighbor -- Miss Strawberry Mouse! She lives in her pyramid-shaped linen house tied together at the top with a pink polka dot ribbon closure. 'Vines dotted with blueberry beads climb the walls of the house and gardens bloom on all sides. A trellis of roses surrounds the front door.
On one side of the house, you will find a fenced lavender garden with butterflies and bluebirds stitched over 1.
On the other side, a strawberry patch is humming with bees. In the backyard flowers spill from a 'very large' urn being inspected by two little visitors! Both the wreath over the front door and the large urn are embellished with tiny Swarovski dewdrop beads.
Inside, the pink walls surround a fancy floral rug, and beneath that rug another little mouse scurries about.' The pink felt walls can hold needles and pins. Summer House is stitched on Week's Dye Works 32ct Platinum Linen and Miss S Mouse is worked on 32 Blush. She is wearing a strawberry frock and sporting a lovely white hat! The house is approx 2-3/4 inches in size, Mouse is approx 1-3/4 inches. Presented as the 12-page stitch and finishing guide with chart, ribbon, felt, bases, crystals, string tail, mouse button base, flowers, and beads. There is an optional Little lady Mouse Mini Slide available as well!
This is part two of a 4-Season Mouse House Series... you can still get the Spring Mouse House... and we are offering an auto-ship for this charming set!
Lizzie Kate's New Things are Here!
Horses and Mares by Laurel Burch for Mill Hill
Mill Hill has adapted the artwork of Laurel Burch into Cross Stitch. Joining her charming collection of Cats and Dogs, we now have Horses and Mares!
Same awesome, bold and bright coloring, same signature artwork flavor... we have five designs to stitch on either 28ct linen or 14ct Aida. All five of these feature great colors, and Mill Hill glass seed beads as design accents. Moroccan Mares is stunning -- all browns, creams, grays and blacks... so pretty!
Ocean Boulevard from The Victoria Sampler
The Victoria Sampler has sent a charming design -- kind of a miniature version of their 4 seasonal Cottages by the Sea. *Happiness is a walk on the beach.* A trio of happy beach houses are nestled on the sand, with a path running across the front yards. I imagine there is more sand behind them before the water... ?
Thea's charming set of seasonal cottages is finished, and this one just seems to coordinate so beautifully with them. Stitched on any light blue linen you want, the model is on 28ct and finishes approx 8-1/2 x 5 inches in size. Presented in leaflet format, the accessory pack contains all the three different brands of silk threads needed and black bead embellishments. Very colorful and pretty!
Vintage Needle Collections
What EXQUISITE Needlework Treats!!!!! We have found ACTUAL Vintage Needles, in their ORIGINAL packages... and each comes with a tiny bit of history about the needle company who produced them. Needle companies through the past 200 years have been buying each other out and consolidating, saving trademarks, re-naming, merging, re-building factories, you name it! Colonial Needle has lots of tiny old treasures that they have acquired over the years -- and here they are!
Colonial Needle has *new sets* of vintage needles packed together in their small collections. These are brand new ACTUAL VINTAGE NEEDLES in their ORIGINAL packages. Four different companies featured in each set, you get a bit of history about the manufacturer and dates of productions. I haven't got the faintest idea what some of these needles were *supposed to be* used for... just the fact that they have survived in their lovely packages is enough for me!
April Easter Eggs, our April Secret Needle Night Kit
We found decorated Easter Eggs over the weekend! This is a softly-colored trio of stitched eggs... just the right size to make into egg-shaped pin cushions or little pillows to decorate next year's Easter Baskets!
They are our April Secret Needle Night offering... and are presented with three cuts of 18ct linen, all the Pearl Cottons, Fyre Werks metallics, buttons, poms, chart and needles you need to stitch them! Mona has an optional finishing kit available for a few weeks -- it has the boards, backing fabrics, trim, bows... all the dressings!
Cape Cod Keeps
from Plum Street Samplers
Aren't these cute? Plum Street has a pair of 3 x 4 inch (on 18/36ct fabric) pin cushions that are stitched with hand-dyed flosses on any neutral fabric you like! *Remember Me, Friends are We.*
These would be fun nestled together in a dish -- make them face each other... they are just small and sweet. Lady Dot's 'Rainy' baby ball fringe is the featured trim on them... super good dusky color to have on hand in your stash to finish other things, too!
Cape Cod Keeps is just one of Plum Street's new charts.
The Garden Gate & Welcome Spring from The Drawn Thread
Cynthia Zittel has a pair of lovely designs on the way to us -- they are full of her stitching personality -- and are just delightful! Presented as the charts WITH her exclusive silk packets.
November & December Quilt Blocks
from Carolyn Manning
We are finally finishing off Carolyn Manning's 12-part series of crazy quilts in cross stitch. She has 12 blocks -- all 5-1/2 inches in size (on 14/28) that feature colors and motifs for their season or holiday.
Kind of cute, each is a chart with an embellishment or two! They would be pretty joined together, but they'd make cool pin cushions too!
MTV is gifted Italian designer with neat stuff!
Puffin & Company has three new designs in her assortments of miniature tools!
Alphabetique & Little French Pin Keep from JBW
JBW has seven new designs... I'm into Paris these days, so these two are my favorites!
My Sister is the Bester... Than the Bestest! & Lady on the Moors from Thistles
Thistles has a couple of cute charted designs that we brought home from Market last month.
Roosters! from Accoutrement Designs
Accoutrements has two gorgeous jeweled magnetic rooster needle minders that I just had to have!!! 2 x 2 inches in size, one is blue, teal and red in color, the other is black, gold and crystal.
I couldn't decide which one I liked better, so I got them both! Now it's your turn! You choose, or have us choose for you!
Summer & Autumn Samplers from Sara Guermani
These are charming medleys of all sorts of scenes, motifs, and memories of the Summer and Autumn seasons. By Italian artist Sara Guermani, each is presented in chart format and designs measure 278 x 263 in stitch count. That makes them 14-ish inches square on 40ct or 19-1/2 on 28/14ct. You can choose any fabric and count you like, though, AND stitch ANY or ALL parts of each piece.
Charted for DMC floss, there are little villages and animals all over the place... and you can see how the little sections would be fun to break up and stitch individually to make smaller cushions. You could make a whole bundle of bitty things to nestle in a basket... or make a larger statement for your walls.
Mushrooms and Ghosts!
from The Glasshopper
Jennifer the Glasshopper Gal has a pair of cute new pins -- topped with her lampwork glass! Beautifully hand-made, each pin needs to poke out of a pretty pin cushion or sewing case.
The little mushroom reminds me of the dancing ones in Fantasia! Substantial 2-1/2 inch pins, the red and white glass mushroom measures about 3/4 of an inch. The little ghost is white glass with black eyes, and he measures about 2cm long -- about 3/4 of an inch. These are darling... one of a kind. Full of personality, you'll never find others like them!
Red Shaker Tray and Hornbook
We have a beautifully handmade Shaker-style wooden tray with matching mini-hornbook by master-woods-craftsman Robert LeHay. Measuring approx 7 x 9-1/2 x 1-1/2, it is completely hand-made and exquisitely finished. Brick Red on the outside, black on the inside, there is a 4-x 6-ish black hornbook paddle that goes with it.
Scarlet House has featured this set on her new American Homestead Sewing Set chart, and both are stunning!!! Tanya's designs are charming, and wow, they look great stashed into this awesome little tray! Attach a small cushion to the hornbook, and nestle everything else in the beautiful tray!
6-1/2 Inch Storks
By Dovo of Solingen, Germany, here are gigantic Stork Scissors! Same classic design as our smaller versions, these make quite the statement! They have a nice balance to them, so they actually are good for cutting!
Even though they are large, they are NOT heavy-duty such as a sewing shear. The 'eye' is just one small, precision screw... so treat these with LOVE, just like your smaller embroidery scissors. (That means no paper and no electrical cords!... we hear all those stories!) Super-pretty in a sewing case or neat needlework shadow box display as well.
OHHHHH... New Threads!!!
Our threads hang in alphabetical order on the racks.. we LOVE new colors, but wow... adding to the ABC order on the racks is killer!!! We have 4 new sets... get them all now, before you find out you need one of them at 2am on a Sunday morning of a 4-day weekend!!! (and you're on vacation and have no internet access!)
Riley Harbor & Bowlful of Bunnies
from Kathy Barrick
Kathy Barrick has a few new releases... I loved these tiny rabbit cushions when I saw them, and of course, that harbor scene is delightful!
Stars & Stripes - Lucy Moore - 1865
from Needlework Press
Oh, wow... this is an awesome sampler that has survived from 1865. Re-charted by Needlework Press, there is LOTS of history in here about the stitcher, her life and family, and the times she lived in. It finishes approx 25 inches wide by 8 inches high on Week's 30ct Straw Linen. It features alphabets of Algerian Eyelets, one-over-one and Four-Sided stitches.
All the names you see are real ones... but, for heavens sake... DON'T FEEL BAD CHANGING THEM TO YOUR OWN FAMILY NAMES! It's great to feature other people on your walls... very noble and historic... but nobody in your family knew them... and it's OK to make it your own!!! So... think about adding *Family Established* and names and dates or something like that. The sampler is neat.. cool shape, awesome story behind it... presented as a leaflet with great pic of the finished piece!
from Needlework Press
The fifth little clock design in NP's Time to Stitch Series! We have the 6-inch plastic fake alarm clock frames for these... Spring joins Christmas, Halloween, Sampler and Stitch Time designs!
Each finishes approx 3 x 3... so if you don't want a faux clock, make them into little pin cushions! We even have clock hands to attach if you want!
from Ink Circles
Ink Circles is getting organized with everything under the sun. Kind of a fun series of designs, each of these is offered in it's separate chart. They all measure the same size -- approx 6 x 4 on 30-ish count, and are coded for Sampler Threads or DMC flosses.
Tools, Fishing Lures, Orchestra, Sewing, Birdhouses, Vegetables... each one appeals to its particular hobby... These are a cute something to stitch for someone... unless their sewing room or tackle box is a mess!
Mini Sunflower Pin Cushion
from Mani di Donna
Mani Di Donna had the cutest bitty design at Market... a tiny sunflower cushion with matching needlecase. Just a simple chart, it comes with the set of three handmade clay sunflower pins and the three metal thread rings you see on there. (Rings actually go inside the thread case... we put them on the cushion instead, because we didn't think we'd do both pieces!)
You'll need scraps of linen, and bits of three Weeks flosses... SUPER tiny and quick!
Simona has some other cool new things... on our inside pages!
The Early Americans
from Little House Needleworks
Little House's newest series celebrating our Early American Icons in History has begun!
Presenting in a series of 9 small charts ($6 each), you can choose just the ones you like, or collect them all. (Auto-ship offers that option.) Stitched on Weeks Dye Works 30ct Tin Roof Linen... make small cushions or join them together for one larger presentation!
Kesiah Campbell 1796 Sampler
from Needlemade Designs
A neat sampler... especially when you know what the verse really means!!!! Tucked above the charming farmhouse and yard scene, the Gaelic words translate to *driving the ewes to the hills, where the heather grows... and to the small stream! By Needlemade Designs, you could stitch JUST the bottom part -- leaving off the alphabets and initials -- you CAN change the biblical name Kesiah to your own!
Adjust the border length... but do keep the little sheep stitched with French Knots! The entire green lawn is stitched with Satins - but they are displaced in semi rows, so there is a lovely texture to all that green, which makes this all the more charming! (Can you tell, I'm not personally crazy about the dominant alphabet up there? It's OK to think outside the 'chart' a little!) Entire sampler finishes approx 9 x 11 on 32ct.
Charted for DMC or Gentle Art Sampler Threads -- gorgeous colors of Cast Iron Skillet, Country Redwood, Endive, Garden Gate, Grape Arbor, Red Plum, Moss, Oatmeal, Picnic Basket, and Woodrose.
Land That I Love
This is a neat book, and you should buy it! (There it is in a nutshell!) It is a 120-ish page book full of line drawings of the 50 US states, and all sorts of lettering and motifs special to each state. By Indigo Junction's Amy Barickman, it begs for your creativity! Ready to be traced onto fabrics for embroidery... possibilities are endless.
A *Retro* personality to this... how neat would it be to teach a young stitcher basic embroidery with this? If you are traveling this summer... and you are going out-of-state... do pillow cases with motifs of the states you are visiting! If you go camping... it's a perfect momento! If you take a summer vacations somewhere... make kitchen dish towels with embroidery on them to celebrate your trip! If you have a camper -- maybe you have room for a cute stitched pillow in there? This book is your helping hand!
Summer House Stitch Workes Fragments in Time 2017
Celebrating Elizabethan Crewelwork this year, Beth is releasing a set of 8 small charted designs -- each with the personality of antique Crewel's motifs. We have the first 4 cards in the series so far... 5 & 6 ship mid May and then 7 & 8 in mid July.
Worked on 32 Platinum Linen with Sampler Threads of Endive, Gold Leaf, Grasshopper, Aged Pewter, Picnic Basket, and Freedom, (one skein of each should do them all) the three-inch pin cushions are trimmed with Lady Dot's Thunder Cloud Chenille (One package will trim your entire set of 8 cushions!) and backed with Week's Blue Heron hand-dyed wool. (We have 17 x 26-ish 1/4 yard cuts or 8 to 9-ish inch Schnigglet cuts available. Get one quarter of one color to back them all... or get asst schnigglet colors to mix and match your backs.)
The colors and motifs in this small set are all inspired by old Crewel... rich teals, mosses and golds. Join the auto-ship to collect the other 4 charts as released, and give us your thoughts about that wool!
NEW Fall Mill Hill is HERE!
Oh, it's that time of year... SPRING... which means it's also time for Mill Hill's Fall and Halloween line to debut! (You need a little time to work on these before this Fall!)
The New Button & Beaded Kits -- These are the 5 x 5 ones stitched on perforated paper with DMC and beads. We like that paper, but we also use 28ct linen or 14ct Aida as alternatives. Each kit comes with all the threads, beads and a ceramic button for garnish.
ALWAYS Cute: Harvest Corn can stay out for several months, Country Store is another in MH's Village series (there is a whole Christmas City, and another that are shops through all the seasons.) Spooky Scary features dancing skeletons -- very different and cute! Moonlit Treaters features that awesome moon that several of the previous designs have as well, Count Your Blessings sports the most gorgeous Autumn trees in their colorful glory, and finally Old Time Harvest has that cool old truck perusing he pumpkin patch!
Autumn 2017 Small Ornament Kits from Mill Hill
This year's 3 x3 ornament-sized designs are here too! Sometimes, they companion the larger kits, sometimes not. All are presented with their bit of 14ct perforated paper, all the necessary DMC flosses and beads and usually a Mill Hill Treasure as a garnishment. They work well for magnets, and small ornaments... in the olden days, the kits came with pin backs, so you could wear them. They do make stunning pins, and I am here to tell you that they launder well! (Over the years I have accidentally washed dozens of them! You'd think that paper would disintegrate, but with all your stitching on there, they hold up like iron!)
Happy Camper is just plain DARLING!!! Boo reminds me of the early designs -- very cute. Sally Scarecrow is fun and colorful -- not scary fall. Let Go refers to trees letting go of their leaves... but it might be good advice for someone you know! Be Scary IS a scary Halloween design... and we think that Autumn Gold is KILLER! It is stunning!
EERIE, ELLIS & ESSENCE from Mill Hill
This year's trio of Halloween designs that finish approx 4 inches in size, we have trio of happy ghosts! What makes them kind of fun are the 'textures' on their 'gowns.' (I don't know that ghosts actually 'wear anything at all!')
Anyway, stitched on 14ct perforated paper with DMC and garnished with Mill Hill seed beads, they've simply added some long stitches in here instead of all X's. Very fun! Complete kits of paper, floss, beads, needle... time to get busy!
***Just Nan Announces MORE LAST CALLS for Retiring Designs!***
13 more of Just Nan's pieces are retiring NOW... and will be available ONLY till the end of June (unless they sell out sooner!) Pictured here is Memories.
We are *SPECIAL ORDERING* these designs for you, as we have not carried many of them in stock for several years. Orders will arrive to us weekly, so you won't have to wait very long for your treasures to arrive!
We have tiny pics of the rest of the featured retirees on our Just Nan Page -- Don't Miss Them!!!
English Village I & II from Michael Powell
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this guy's artwork! Used to be -- only kits were available -- now, we are beginning to get charts of lots of Michael's designs. Just stick me inside one of these charming Olde English Village houses... I could either be Cinderella or the Gracious Lady of the House... either way would be good!
Two parts to this charming scene, each finishes approx 8 x 12-1/2 inches in size. TONS of stitches in these, and TONS of color changes (coded for DMC, Madeira and Anchor) they call for 49 colors and then he blends 10 more together! You HAVE to LOVE backstitching to do these... there are NOT quarter stitches in them, you just backstitch hither and thither to create the charming, crooked, antiquey charm of these.
Each chart contains TWO charts -- one for the regular Cross Stitches, the second is JUST the backstitching. We have tons of other designs by Michael on his interior pages... some are cute and small, I have one started...............!
Flowers With Check Border
from Michael Powell
Not into Olde English? What about contemporary, fresh, cheerful flowers? This 5 x 5 design is worked on any white fabric you like best, and finishes that 5 inches in size on a 14/28 ct size.
TWO charts in here... one is just the Cross Stitches, the other is the backstitch detail. Coded for DMC floss... it uses 18 colors. The charts are HUGE and clear, and have great pics of HOW to do those crooked backstitches on fabrics that are over one or two.
Swan Lake, Ivy's Sampler & Sweet Bird from Lone Elm Lane
Lone Elm Lane's newest designs -- use them atop their boxes, or on your pillows and in frames! Presented as single charts, Stephanie has new charting software, and these are beautifully printed as full color charts.
The Frog Motto
from Annie Beez Folk Art
*As Ye Sew, So Shall Ye Rip!*
It's just one of those things when you're a stitcher! By Annie Beez, this is a one-page chart for this silly but sobering design that measures approx 6 x 5 when stitched on 18/36ct.
Coded for DMC floss, it'd be fun to add buttons to the flowers and do Padded Satins on the spools. Hopefully, you can finish this without too much ripping!!!!
from Rosewood Manor
Karen Kluba has designed a sampler featuring flower baskets.
Just about Millions of tiny flowers in here... this finishes 12 x 18-1/2 on 28ct Picture This Plus Wren Linen, and is worked with super-colorful Valdani hand-dyed flosses.
Just yummy, as all of Karen's samplers like this are!
Leaflet comes with the Valdani flosses.
Sam Sarah has begun two 3-part designs that are so cute and colorful... just small, simple, not a ton of parts to them, or tons of embellishments, these are MANAGEABLE!
Out of the Woods: Raccoon
from SamSarah Design Studio
Stitched on 32ct Charlotte's Pink by Weeks Dye Works, the raccoon is first chart, cute little owl is second, and that awesome fox is the third chart! Together, they finish about 11 x 5, and they are KILLER!
Colorful, full of personality, they are so creative and different from anything else out there. Super-cute for a nursery! Maybe decide on fabric after you have all three charts?
Blue would be good, apple green... we'll do an auto-ship for the other two charts coming to help you collect the set.
Heard it Through The Grapevine
from SamSarah Design Studio
This is a cheerful hearts and dots thing all swirled together -- stitched on 32ct Charlotte's Pink Linen by Weeks. (don't get hung up on pink... you can change that if you need to!)
Presented in only 3 parts with no embellishments, you can always add as you want to, but this is fine just the way it is. Stitch the alphabet letters or make up a message of your own to spell in here! The entire design finishes approx 18 x 7.
Be aware that each portion CAN stand alone if you aren't doing the whole alphabet... so don't feel like you have to buy all three of these to get the full charm and impact of the design! We're doing an auto-ship for charts two and three -- in case you want them all.
A Scissor Sampler
from Rovaris of Italy!
Rovaris of Italy has a cool piece -- it's the alphabet done in white against a natural background, then garnished with all sorts of scissors stitched in DMC 815 red.
Actually quite large, the stitch count is 130 x 430 -- finishing approx 8 X 27 on 32ct! You could change up the colors a little, stitch just your name and add the scissors you like the best to that and make a sewing room sign. Make a pin cushion with just one initial and one scissor motif.
Nobody says you have to stitch the entire thing if you don't have that much energy! It's just a pretty chart, we thought it was cool.
In The Beginning with Adam and Eve
from Blackberry Lane Designs
This was Marie Driskill's first design released in 2008! She brings the model to Market every year, and dismisses it (oh yes, that... it as an early design), but this year... she brought CHARTS!
No, the clock is not available. BUTTTTT, the design measures 130 x 320, and is worked over one thread on 32. You can go over two, and choose any count you wish, over one on 32 this finishes only 4 x 10. Only 98 different colors of DMC in here and 3 hand-dyes, it's pretty amazing.
The chart is intense -- like the Heaven and Earth patterns -- and they do take patience and concentration to work -- two attributes that others have more of than me! Just gorgeous!
Nikyscreations has several charming new releases... charts and the ultra-sweet set of miniature clay counting pins!
Alphabet Garden features a flowing alphabet scattered all about the 100 x 131 stitch count design (finishes approx 6 x 8 on 32ct). Charted for regular DMC floss, it's a very pretty piece. You can mange up the fabric of you want, and changing DMC to hand-dyed flosses is a breeze! The chart comes with a delightful hand-painted wooden bunny button that measures about an inch in size -- you can see it beside the W in the sampler.
Clay Garden Pin Set -- These are lovely! PETITE, these are 2-inch long pins topped with a flower, bunny and carrot of polymer clay -- they are only 1/4 an inch in size! So stinkin cute, you can poke these into just about any garden, or floral, or bunny pin cushion, and they'd be a charming surprise inside a sewing case! Soft muted colors... this set I am describing never made it back to The Silver Needle! They found a new home in the pin cushion on my desk!
Make sure to see the rest of Nikys cute things on our interior Niky Pages!
Modern Folk Embroidery
I stumbled across this book that features 30 contemporary projects for Folk Art inspired designs -- all done in traditional embroidery stitches! It is fresh, colorful, young and just fun! It's crewel embroidery -- stitched with embroidery floss on just about any fabric you want.
The book has 125 pages of stitch diagrams, patterns and pictures of 30 different projects that are so NOW and CUTE! Bags, dolls, pillows, ornaments... you can finish everything in here any way you want! Browse through it, choose a project, the instructions are very good. Bright colors, very *Retro* on personality!
The Cross Stitch Garden
Another enchanting book I have stumbled across recently, this one features over 70 cross stitch floral motifs mixed into 20 different samplings and projects. Fresh, clean, contemporary, and elegant, the author, Kazuko Aoki, is a popular Japanese embroidery artist who now lives in Sweden and writes embroidery books! Her style is clean, petite, colorful, and realistic.
This is a very pretty book filled with luscious close-up photographs of the stitching, and very clear, inviting charts! Reminds me of the Danish Handcraft Guild look and Gerda Bengstrom, as well! 109 pages of sheer Cross Stitch delight!
A Stitcher's Pin Spool from Milady's Needle
Milady's Needle has a cute new Stitcher's Spool design... it shows two stitchers on it, big 'ol nasty scissors (in comparison to the tiny little stitchers!) and the words *Sampler Sisters* along with the date. You can spell put anything you want to on there! Presented as a complete kit, it contains the chart (but there are TWO -- one is for 36ct as an option), a cut of 40ct Vintage Homespun Linen by Lakeside, and Gentle Art and Weeks hand-dyed flosses all beautifully tied onto a cardboard thread pallette with the stitched artwork on it.
There is coordinating topping fabric to match the flosses and Milady's chunky 2 x 3 inch wooden spool as well. THEN, to dress up your cushion, you'll see a pair of silver-flower pins by Kim's Needle Needfuls -- you get those TOO! Very cute, this is like the Rabbit Run and Garden Visit Spool Keepers and Cushions we were treated to last year (which are back in stock for a limited time!)
North Pole Sled Company and Elf Made & Tested
from Foxwood Crossings
Foxwood Crossings has two new mini-sled patterns. Officially there are now a TON of cute offerings for the small wooden mini-sleds that are perfect a Christmas Tree ornaments and small decorations.
There are three sizes of sleds, and several of the patterns have designs to fit more than one size. The smallest size is cute on a tree or wreath, the medium ones still work on a wreath, and the larger ones make awesome table decorations.
North Pole features Santa, Elf Made features his ever-important Work Staff! Along with Foxwood's sled designs, you might like those from Sue Hillis, Shepherd's Bush or Lizzie*Kate as well!
Spots of Paris and Ateliers of Paris
from Fireside Originals
Oh my gosh... our Silver Needle/Jeannette Douglas Cruise leaving from Paris is coming the end of May! There are 140 of us taking the ENTIRE Ama Waterways boat down the Rhone for a week.. but we meet in Paris first! I couldn't resist these two charts I found at Market!
Colonial Hare & Her Pin Set from The Primitive Hare
This is a new design that has caught the eye of many! By Primitive Hare, it is a very old-style rabbit portrait that is charted in two different colorways -- blue and brown. Blue uses DMC 646, 844, 648, 3072 413 and 415. Brown uses 840, 838 and 3371 instead of the 413, 415 and 3072. You can use any hand-dyed linen, or Primitvie Hare's special 40ct Boleyn Linen -- it is hand-dyed, but she's put words on it... semi-readable... very muted in the background... for a super-aged look. Very interesting... some really like it, some not so much.
The Primitive Hare is quite large, she measures 155 x 249 -- so finishes approx 8 x 12-1/2 on that 40ct... or 9-1/2 x 15-1/2 on 32ct. The hand-made pin set matches the Blue Hare... not featured in the main design... they're just kind of neat to poke in a pretty pin cushion nearby! Colonial Hare is a leaflet, pins and linen offered separately.
A Trio of New Punch Needle Designs from Teresa Kogut!!!
Super-Cute designs presented as line drawings to transfer onto provided weaver's cloth, each of these is punched with hand-dyed or DMC flosses.
Pray & Angelic Vision
from Teresa Kogut!!!
This is a pair of beautiful angels charted from Teresa's original watercolor art. Stitched on Week's Cocoa 30ct Linen, these are coded for regular 'ol DMC floss! Such pretty colors and such a neat look...
Pray finishes approx 6-1/2 inches in size, while Angelic Vision measures 5-1/2 x 7-1/2. Lovely!
from Olde Colonial
Pam Reed has several cute smalls... everything is presented in kit format and includes the frame, box or jar!
As an alternative...
Buttons in Bloom -- Yellow & Purple Colorways -- on Perforated Paper.
A profusion of bright colors, this just makes you smile! Val's Stuff's cute chart comes with a 3 x 4 cut of 14ct brown perforated paper, and is coded for two different color combinations using DMC and hand-dyed flosses -- either a yellow or purple background variation.
Included with her chart is the set of buttons to stitch this BOTH ways! (We thought it was so cute, we converted it to a Secret Needle Night kit as well!!! THAT kit contains *our* color changes, the alternative threads and necessary linen cut... and is available separately.)
Crazy Dog and Cat Ladies!
from AB Designs
Two of AB's new designs... we all have that friend who is NUTS about their cat or dog... they dress them, they cook real people food for them, they skype with them, they even stick them in their purses to go shopping together! (well maybe not the CAT!) Anyway, she needs this! Dog was released a few weeks ago -- Cat just came.
Offered as two separate charts -- both measure 61 x 133 in stitch count -- about 6 x 14 on 14ct. CAT comes with a felt fish for trim, DOG comes with a felt bone. Cute as can be... you could skip the top two cats to save stitching time... but not if that offends that Crazy Cat Lover!
Crabtree Remembered & Nora's Garden from The Purple Thread
The Purple Thread has two new small designs that I thought were cute as can be!
Sue Hillis has lots of cute new arrivals -- Halloween, Christmas, Sports and even a fun leaflet for Dad's Father's Day gift!
Christmas in Red & Christmas Friends
from Sue Hillis Designs
A pair of new sled leaflets by Sue Hillis. NO... the sleds don't come in white -- if you want them white, you have to paint them! These are, however, two fun collections of more designs to dress those cute little wooden ornaments.
Sue shows lots of rik rak and trims around her designs... you can do that, but keep in mind that perforated paper is good too, and you just cut that out and glue it on! These samples are a bit more involved on the finishing end... and they'll be just as cute if you don't fuss as much. Sleds are offered separately.
To Thine Ownself... Be True
from Abby Rose Designs
Abby Rose presents four new pin cushion-sized designs... To Thine Ownself... Be True is just one. (The other three are described on our interior AR page.)
Offered as a chart, it is worked on 30ct (but can be anything you want!) in soft pinks, greens and browns of Gentle Art Sampler Threads. Not big, not a series, not representing a season, this is simply a lovely little design! Want some chenille or hand-dyed silk trim for it? We have lots to choose from and can do that for you!
Lots of new by Heartstring Samplery... everything is on our interior pages, but here is one of my favorites!
from Heartstring Samplery
*First I drink the coffee, then I do the things...* What a fun thing to hang on your kitchen wall near the coffee pot! Grab a smattering of different hand-dyed brown flosses... this finishes approx 9-1/2 x 11 on 36ct.
Great Quaker motifs, it just speaks for itself! Presented as a chart.

Moon and Back from Heart in Hand
*I Love You to the moon and back and more than all the stars in the sky.* This delightful verse is stitched into a very long and thin design that finishes approx 2 x 24 inches on 32ct!
It is worked with hand-dyed threads and features a set of 4 wooden button embellishments -- two flowers, a fish and a heart -- which are included with the leaflet. Super simple on the stitching, but super huge on personality, it would make a darling nursery or child's bedroom decoration.
Cool Beans! from Hands-On Design
Hands On Design is beginning a new set of designs to celebrate Coffee!!! Nine single 1/2-Sheet full color charts, each finishes approx 4 inches square on 32ct linen. Each chart is available individually, and you can stitch these individually, but there IS a simple border chart (on the Hands On website) that guides you in stitching them together into one (235 x 237) 14 x 14 square.
Coded for DMC, they are fresh and fun. The first three designs of the nine are available now.. the other six to follow in two more shipments (May and July). We have an auto-ship for them, in case you want to collect the whole set.
Hens & Birds

Stitched on 28ct Aztec Red Hand-dyed Gingham Linen by Weeks... FINALLY, all our linens and flosses, and charts AND buttons are here at one time and ready to go!
D is For Dracula Scissor Keep
from The Stitching Parlour
This is the cutest thing.. it is a top and lining design for a 2-1/2 x 5 x 1-1/2 wooden hinged old-fashioned casket box! Presented as the chart with little box and cut of 32ct Picture This Plus's Haunted Linen, you stitch the appropriate RIP on gravestones in the spooky yard complete with bat hanging in the moonlight.
Inside the little box, there is Dracula to guard over you scissors! (Baby Storklettes by Kelmscott are in the model -- but any 3-1/2 inch pair will fit.) Stitched with Weeks flosses, this is small but packs a lot of personality! Presented as the chart with casket and fabric cut.

Val does cute things for Halloween and Christmas -- she has quite a collection of ornaments stitched on perforated paper, and there are more!
Bat Kit Crazy -- These are the CUTEST! Make this flying bat with wings stitched on perforated paper. You add his felt ball body and ball eyes... stitch on black eyes and some little clay fangs and he's finished! Choose between GREEN or PURPLE balls... both charts for *Bite Me* and *Just Batty* are included in the kit.
All you'll add are bits of floss from your stash. Kit contains the charts, paper, green or purple felt ball, matching green or purple week's felt to back your bat, his white eye balls, black button eyes, and fang buttons. He finishes approx 1-1/2 x 6 inches in size!

Presenting Little Miss Strawberry and Watermelon Butts
from Madame Chantilly
Oh my gosh, these are DARLING! Madame Chantilly has two new designs -- A Walk in the Garden, and A Walk to the Sea. Just simple, seasonal pieces, each measures about 7 x 8 on 32ct... so if you want them smaller, leave off the border.
We think they are charming, and have re-named them BECAUSE of their little rumps! 'Garden' is a spring strawberry, and 'Sea' is a summer watermelon! Presented as charts.
New Arrivals from Stacy Nash Primitives
Vintage Thread Cards... also The Animal Crackers Series and Rose Garden Sewing Basket... all new this month!
Aren't these fun? Heavy cardboards covered with vintage prints, they measure approx 3 x 4-1/2 and feature 8 holes to loop your stitching threads. Use them to organize works in progress, or to decorate the insides of your stitched cases. They'd even be pretty tucked with stitched pin cushions in a basket or bowl... and the rabbits and lambs could perch beside some Easter Eggs! Assorted Vintage Halloween, Christmas and Animals... if you have a preference, let us know!
6 More The Prairie Schooler Santas are sliding down the chimney again!
Previously unavailable TWICE in the past... third time is a charm for these guys! Prairie Schooler's annual Santas have been Re-re-printed... and if you don't get them now... there will never be a 4th chance!

Five New Offerings by Bent Creek... We brought them all home from Market! Here are two.. the rest are on our Bent Creek interior pages.
New Kits from Bent Creek
By The Sea from Erica Michaels
Erica Michaels has seven new things -- BERRIES and MORE BERRIES, this darling sewing set, a few more Petite Gauze samplers and a Reproduction piece!! Everything is described on our inside EM pages... but I LOVE this seaside one, so thought I'd chat about it!!!
Stitch the By The Sea sewing set on 32ct Petit Point Natural linen. The 5 x 7 sewing case outside features a row of cute beach cabanas, the inside features the lyrics of *By the Sea*, along with a bit of aqua wool for your needles.
Next is the 3-inch-ish Strawberry pin cushion, with a sand dollar wool topping. Same 32ct linen, the design is charming all around -- a little mermaid, sand castle and sunshine, pelicans crabs, waves and a little fish. Linda has photos in here of her finishing, and an EXCELLENT picture of the top of this berry. You embroider a sand dollar on there!
Finally, there is a Mermaid pocket watch locket! PRECIOUS! It is stitched on the included 40ct silk gauze, and fits into a 1-1/2 inch pocket watch frame. Absolutely the cutest thing EVER! Package includes charts for all three projects, finishing pics and instructions for all three and silk for the locket. Locket Frame, Polka Dot and solid Linen, Deep Sea and Snow Cream wool schnigglets, and set of seaside JABCO pins are available separately. (I didn't quote fabric (approx $30-ish) as there are three different pieces, and the cut sizes will probably vary, depending on supply!)
Vintage Birds and Mighty Acorn
from Jeannette Douglas Designs
Jeannette Douglas's new things released at Market are all here! Nine new designs in all... large samplers all the way down to bitty 1-inch pin cushions, everything is quite detailed with thread and fabric offerings. Lets see how well I can describe it all! Pics and my notes are all on Jeannette's pages... so enjoy the browse! Info about these pics first!

This is a new series of 10 monthly charts releasing each month beginning this April continuing till January of 2018. Each has a stitch count of 59 x 83 (approx 3 x 5), if you stitch it together in two rows as shown, it'll measure 295 x 157 (18-1/2 x 10). Worked on 32ct Star Sapphire Linen a yummy soft blue/aqua color... this color works for both stitching options.
Along with several DMC flosses (3 of white), you will need 2 skeins of Classic Colorworks Cocoa Bean and 2 of Four Leaf Clover. Auto-ship begins in April... main fabric cut with first shipment or individual cuts each month!

Garden Urn Pinkeep
from Samplers Not Forgotten
Kim Nugent released such a charming pin cushion at Market last week... it is her limited edition... and it is just lovely. Presented as a kit, she chose 36ct Vintage Pear Lakeside Linen, paired it with an antique-flavored calico backing fabric, and soft hand-dyed Sampler Threads of Old Brick, Pecan Pie, Endive, Brethren Blue, Briar Rose, Heirloom Gold and Mustard Seed.
The stitched area is 3-1/2 x 4... the finished cushion about 4 x 5-1/2. You get the linen, backing fabric, threads, along with a red felt heart to decorate the back, and the trio of mother-pf-pearl buttons garnishing the front. Super soft and pretty colors, this is very nice.
from Praiseworthy Stitches
The 2017 Annual Christmas Scene by Praiseworthy Stitches, this is the 5th, and companions Churchyard Christmas, Going to Grandmas, Carols on the Square, and Santa's Moonlight Flight. There is a snowball fight going on in the center of town, it erupted over a snowman building contest... and Santa is flying overhead, seeing who's being naughty or nice!!!!
YOU are the nice one...stitching this darling piece on 32ct Nocturne Linen from Picture This Plus. Finishing approx 19 x 12, it's full of details and lots of color. The houses are especially pretty this year. Kind of big... but super fun to work up and pull out every year to delight all!
Sale at The Bubbling Cauldron
from Praiseworthy Stitches
This year, Pam and Susan have a half-sized Halloween Spooky House scene. The Bubbling Cauldron (The Silver Needle of Halloween Supplies) is having a Midnight Madness Sale on October 31st!!! Imagine that! All the customers have come in costume! Tonight's specials include flying brooms, snake eggs, love potions and cauldrons to make them, along with croaking toads (maybe to cook in that cauldron?)
Stitched on 32ct Haunted by Picture This Plus, this has ALL THE CHARM of their larger annual houses... but it's half the size... so faster to work up. Stitched with hand-dyed flosses, there is a button pack of embellishments available as well. GREAT colors... we have the model in the shop .. THIS IS CUTE.. and worth your time! Such a lively and fun Halloween decoration!
Eyelash Trim from Lady Dot Creates
We have a new style of hand-dyed trim by Lady Dot Creates -- it's 100% cotton, and looks like a fern frond! It's Eyelash -- a thin strand with little 1/4 inch long 'frizzies' coming out from it.
I think because it's thin, it'll be best on smaller cushions, it'd be cute as 'grass' beneath stitched bunnies and in little flower gardens. (Imagine a sewing case... you open the inside to see a tiny stitched garden, and here is that trim -- right in the needlework!)
I think you could make darling rabbit tails -- use several strands like a tassel fringe.
Dyed to match Lady Dot's existing colors, we have six of her most popular colors so far. Algae is a soft green, Licorice - a dark gray to soft black, Sizzle - that gorgeous rich red, Snow - white. Then we have Vanilla which is a cream and finally Vintage which is ivory and taupe and simply goes with everything!!!!!!!! Packaged in 9 yard lengths.
The Scarlett House has beautiful new things!
Pin cushions and an awesome new line of handmade and painted Shaker boxes, Tanya has done a great job!
Stoneware Bunny, A Pin Pillow Kit
from Priscilla's Pocket
Priscilla's Pocket has a new mini-cushion kit to accompany her cat and kitten. She has some cushion designs that are inspired by old stoneware patterns -- the dark blue on tan pottery. Cat and Kitten have been past Market exclusives that she is still making for us, and now Bunny is this years'! Stitched on Weeks Dye Works Tin Roof Linen, you get the chart, linen AND the 'Wonka's Blueberry' colored mini ball trim by Dames of the Needle for your finishing. You will need Gentle Art's Black Raspberry Jam floss to stitch this.
When we were at the show, They had this little bunny stitched in EASTER colors!!! It was darling! Just choose your trim first, as there are the fewest color choices of that, then match a pastel fabric and hand-dyed floss! Stoneware Bunny finishes less than 3 x 3... the entire collection of these stoneware cushions is SO COOL together! Let us know if you want us to choose an additional color combo for you... we can do that too!

Lots of New Things from Shepherd's Bush!
Tina and Teri have released so many fun things for Spring... we brought home a TON of it from Market! Sage Snowman is the latest colorful little guy -- his kit contains hand-dyed linen and yummy silks. Pink House Tin is petite and useful! It's a small kit of SB personality -- that cute little skinny house and a sheep -- it's a 2-inch design that fits into a metal tart tin! Zip Zap -- stitch it in a jiff -- you get the tin in the kit!
Teri is one crafty gal. She hand-dyes ribbons (we have a fresh batch of those) and she's made itty bitty beaded fobs featuring miniature images of stitched SB artwork! Click the pics to see details about everything!!!
La D Da has 6 new things... these two are my favorites!!! (and they came home with me!!!)
from Little House Needleworks
This is really cute! Little House Needleworks did a special design that debuted at our Spring wholesale trade show last weekend. Special because it includes the floss.. it is a needle worker's alphabet... that finishes into a 2-3/8 x 19-3/8 size stitched on Week's 32ct Confederate Gray Linen!!!
Long and skinny, it's perfect to hang in that narrow spot on your walls between two doors! Letters down one side, and motifs down the other, pins, scissors, hoops and spools.
It includes Classic Colorworks complete skeins of Antique Lace, Calico Kitty, Cocoa Bean, Pebble Beach and Weeping Willow hand-dyed cotton flosses. (You'll need bits of DMC 422 and 951 to stitch.) Includes chart and Classic flosses. Fabric available separately.

Naught or Nice
from Blackberry Lane Designs
Blackberry Lane is announcing her 6th and final design in her set of stitched Snowglobe Ornaments. We have had these since 2011 -- and each has been as involved and shaded and detailed as the rest... simply stunning! This year's features Santa checking his Naughty or Nice list before the Big Night!
Over one on 28ct, it finishes less than 3 x 3 and uses a million different DMC floss colors. All the rest of Marie's annual globes are still available, so you can still enjoy gathering them all.
Jingle All The Way And Hare on the Run are also new... I've tucked them on our Market Preview page.
The 2017 Gingher Limited Edition Designer Series Scissor!
Releasing in SEPTEMBER of 2017... Gingher has released this year's pattern: Lauren! A pretty geometric repeating pattern of aqua-greens against a white background.
These will be available in the 4-inch Embroidery, 5-inch Sewing and 8-inch Dressmaker style. We're taking reservations for them for release this Fall.
New Glass Beaded Pin Cushions from Reflets de Soie
Oh my gosh, these are some of my very, very favorite things in the shop right now... GORGEOUS floral pin cushions (or sewing bag fronts) stitched on 35ct that are ONLY tiny glass beads and NO Cross Stitches! Everything you see are the minute French glass beads!!!! Stitched right from a regular chart, you use only a strand of white floss and stitch a half stitch over two on 35ct... putting on a bead instead of using a color of floss. Kind of like miniature oriental rugs... you are creating these beautiful patterns from a chart simply with glistening glass beads. Really 18ct in size, I suppose you could stitch these in floss... but you'd have to make your own color conversions from the beads.
Offered in chart format, the beads are pre-sorted for you. choose 35 or 36ct linen, frame them or make them into small cushions! We have stiff linens or softer ones... if you have a preference, let us know... we have shop models stitched on both and looks are not affected by fabric softness. It would only be that stiffer might be easier for you to work on.
Miss Christmas Eve
Such a pretty piece to decorate for The Holidays, Miss Christmas Eve is stitched on 32ct Desert Sand linen in DMC cottons and Waterlilies silks. Garnished with 9 different Mill Hill beads and treasures, she finishes approx 10 x 14.
Always that flowing dress, always the elegant color shading... just a really pretty piece! Offered as the chart, we have the various glass embellishments packaged with it.
Spring 2017 Button & bead Kits from Mill Hill
The new kits for this year are HERE! Always favorites... these come as complete kits of design, 14ct perforated paper, tons of flosses and millions of Mill Hill glass seed beads, and a ceramic button. Finishing approx 5 x 5... you can use that paper in the kit... but we LOVE to stitch these on either 14ct Aida or 28ct Linen, so we can make them into little pillows to hang from your kitchen cabinet knobs (and other little places like that.)
Colors are always gorgeous with these... you can't go wrong for the value of these Mill Hill kits... we've been treated to Winter & Christmas, Autumn & Halloween, Spring & Summer designs for over 25 years now!!! I love the Carrot Patch, the goldfinch goes with last year's hummingbird and monarch, Fabric Shoppe is another in the springtime village of businesses (tea room, haberdashery, pet shop... there are a lot of these NOT Christmas), and Hydrangea is so pretty. My favorite, however, is LAUNDRY. How cute is that? Every laundry room needs this! But isn't it funny... do they even make soap powder in a BOX anymore? Nobody under the age of 30 irons anymore! My grandma had a washer like this... I remember the wringer... I thought her arm would go through there!
Spring Bouquet Bead Kits for 2017 from Mill Hill
The small magnet/ornament-sized bead kits have arrived! Cute and colorful, this is something like our 25th year for these little guys -- just like their larger kits. Six springtime designs... they companion the larger Button & Bead kits newly released. Offered as complete small kits -- a GREAT value -- you get the chart, all the flosses and beads, the 14ct perforated paper and sometimes a glass Treasure embellishment.
Blue Pansy Butterfly companions the miniature monarch we already have, Lotus and Trellis Eggs go with the bunny, sheep, daffodil and ladybug eggs we already have, the snail and lizard are really fun - they match last seasons funky fish and sea turtle... and the little seagull is just very traditional and really beach-y!
These are Needle Nanny magnetic pieces... each features the artwork of either Blackbird Designs, Lizzie Kate or Little House Needleworks... in miniature. Use them as needle minders, refrigerator magnets, or something to mind your notes on the filing cabinet at work. You might even be able to cling them to your stitching lamp and hold a pair of scissors! They're magnets -- you can figure out a million uses for them!
Just the best, because they bring your favorite bits of needlework anywhere you want them to be. Each measures approx 1-inch in diameter and features a pair of strong rare-earth magnets.
Blackbird Designs has 6 different offerings so far.
Lizzie Kate presents 21 designs.
Little House Needleworks has 15 so far.
